![]() The other Shop deck is more aggressive so my mana denial plan is better than his but a Crucible will still be nice.ĭo you think that there are any cards necessary against these decks except the cards that we already talked about?Įdit: Oh, and fucking 8-Land Stompy will show up as well. The Crucible will also be handy against the Dark Times and Shops deck because they both play Wasteland. ![]() The last three decks play targeted effects so Orb will be useful. I also know that there is going to be one Metalworker Shop list, 1 Burning Oath deck, 1 UR Tempo control list and 1 Dank Times deck. Now about my meta, I know that it's going to be a tourney with 15-20 people, this because I am one of the tournament organisers. I don't know what yet but I'll test and figure it out. I will cut 1 Bojuka Bog and something else. ![]() This because of the reasons that you pointed out. I'm also going to play 3 or 4 Witchbane Orbs. I cut back on the Mazes because they don't give me any mana and Karakas serves the same function and could be better sometimes (as you've said earlier with the Griselbrand example). I thought about your post while I was gardening and I think it's a good idea to play 1 Karakas, 2 Maze of Ith and 1 Pyrexian Tower. That’s why I prefer winning as fast possible now than to slowly grind them out of the game. For your SB, I have no idea what your meta is like, but I would start by cutting the Phyrexian Tower and maybe the Ghost Quarter and the Crucible.Īlso, I think taking full control of the game is harder now since there are a lot of answers our opponents can use against us, in the main and in the SB. Granted, decks that play Vault/key can ignore this by tutoring for their combo, but the utility of Witchbane Orb and Leyline of Sanctity is hard for me to ignore. Just think about the cards that these cards address: Oath, Hurkyl’s Recall, Gifts Ungiven, Tendrils of Agony, Grindstone, Helm of Obedience and the various discard spells used by dredge. And don't they also draw 7, at least once, if you use Mazes? I say both cards serve the same function, but I much rather prefer bouncing Griselbrand, knowing my opponent won’t be able to cast him again for a few more turns, than leaving him in play.Īs for Witchbane Orb, I play in an Oath heavy meta, so cards like Witchbane Orb are more important for me. I think my deck relies more on beatdown than yours, so maindeck Karakas gives me some kind of answer against them game 1 by preventing further card draw, damage, life gain, and also prevents Griselbrand from blocking my guys. Thanks for reading!ĮDIT: I suck at formatting, please forgive me. Please also mention if you've got comments about the main and sideboard. So, did I miss a match up? What would you do different? Please help me because I want to get better at playing with Stax. I could also board 1 Phyrexian Tower against their Bridges.Ĥ Smokestack (way to slow and they have enough tokens to sacrifice)Ģ-4 Chalices (they're kinda useless because they get their tokens anyway, even if the spell doesn't resolve)Ģ Wurmcoil Engines (they have to counter it or they're pretty much dead)Ģ Phyrexian Metamorph (I think it's maybe a bit over the top to use them). Maybe 2 Ratchet Bomb against their tokens? In: (this is so self explanatory that I'm not gonna explain why) Graveyard removal depending on if it's combo oath with Wishes into Yawgmoth's Will (no graveyard no Will)Ģ Karn (don't wanna have creatures that are kinda useless)Īnd eh yeah, what else? Or am I sideboarding too much cards?Ģ Wurmcoil Engine (good with Smokestack and it's a solid creature)ġ Ghost Quarter (for Strip Mining their Shops and other lands)ġ Crucible of Worlds (against their Smokestack, for my/against their land destruction)ġ Trinisphere (they get around it with their Shops)ġ Smokestack (they run them as well, 8 Stacks is a bit much)ģ Revokers (only if they ain't running Metalworker or Forgemaster)Ģ Sphere of Resistance (8 Spheres is a bit much)Ģ Ratchet Bomb (to destroy their critters)Ģ Wurmcoil Engines (it's aggressive and it gives us life which they are trying to get to 0). This is my list and I'll write my ideas about sideboarding against the aforementioned decks.Ģ Ratchet Bomb (destroy tokens or Oath/Time Vault)ġ Phyrexian Tower (destroys tokens that you get)Ģ Maze of Ith (stops attacking Griselbrands and/or other creatures) That's why I want to learn how to SB against against various decks (mirror, Oath, Dredge, Fish decks and blue control decks). It's been a long time ago since I played my last tournament in Vintage.
